OFFCUT LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Offcut," "we," "us"), runs a marketplace where people list and find surplus construction materials and equipment. This policy covers what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What you give us

Waitlist and contact: your name, email, role, city or county, what you want to do on Offcut, company if you give it, and anything you put in a message to us.
Account: name, email, company, phone if you add it, city, state, ZIP code and profile photo.
Listings: photos, descriptions, prices, quantities and location.
Messages: what you send other users through Offcut.
Reports and blocks: what you report, who you block, and any detail you add.
Verification: test versions of the app may ask for a contractor license number, state and company name. We're replacing this check. Before a new check goes live, we'll update this policy to say exactly what it collects and how long we keep it.

What we collect automatically

Device and browser type, IP address, device identifiers, basic usage and error logs, and essential cookies that keep you signed in. If you arrive through a tagged link, the waitlist form records the campaign tag so we know how you found us. The website doesn't use ad trackers today.

Fonts on this site load from Google, which receives your IP address when the page loads.

How we use it

To run Offcut and connect buyers and sellers.
To decide where to launch and to send launch news you asked for.
To send service messages, such as new-message notifications.
To keep the marketplace safe: screening, handling reports, preventing fraud, and keeping banned users out.
To meet legal duties and respond to lawful requests.
To improve Offcut, including search, moderation and our materials library, and to train our automated tools on listing content.

We don't send marketing texts. We won't start unless you give separate written permission. Entering a phone number doesn't count as that permission.

Automated screening and AI

Listings, photos, messages, profiles and reports may be checked by automated systems, which may include AI services run by outside providers. These systems can hide or remove content or limit an account without a person reviewing it first. To ask for a review, email info@useoffcut.com.

Before your personal information goes to an outside AI service, we'll tell you who receives it and ask your permission in the app.

Other users: your listings and public profile are visible to others. Your messages go to the person you send them to.
Service providers that help run Offcut, under limits on how they use it: Supabase (database, login and storage), Netlify (hosting), Cloudflare (network and security), Formspree (waitlist form), Expo (notifications), and our email and AI screening providers.
For legal and safety reasons: when the law requires it, in response to valid legal process, or to protect people or property, including reports of stolen goods.
In a business change: if Offcut converts, merges or is sold, your information may move to the successor, and this policy keeps applying to it until changed.

We don't sell your personal information. We don't sell or share your precise location with advertisers. Offcut doesn't process payments, so we don't collect card or bank details.

Location

With your permission, the app may use your phone's location or a photo's GPS data to set a listing's ZIP code. We store the ZIP code, not your exact position. Don't post your exact address in a listing. Share a pickup address only with the buyer you've agreed to meet.

How long we keep it

Waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, or until we no longer need it for launch news.
Accounts and listings: while your account is active.
Messages: kept while your account is active. A copy stays with the other person in the conversation. After account deletion, a backup is held up to 90 days.
Deleted listings: held up to 90 days, then removed.
Deleted accounts: a backup is held up to 90 days in case of accidental deletion or a dispute, then removed.
Safety records: reports, removals, bans and records of banned users are kept as long as needed for safety, fraud prevention and legal duties, including after an account is deleted.

Your choices

Ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing us.
Delete your account in the app.
Unsubscribe from marketing email with the link in the email.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights. Email us and we'll respond as the law requires.

Security

We use encrypted connections and database access controls. No online service is fully secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you and regulators as the law requires. Keep financial details and ID numbers out of messages.

Age limit

Offcut is for adults 18 and older. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child gave us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

We'll update the date above when this policy changes and give notice of significant changes.
